So I got in to the Honors College at Lincoln Center and got a bunch of money from them a couple of weeks ago . I was really surprised since, while I am an above average acceptee, I never would have thought that I would be given basically full ride and put into a group with the 16 smartest kids at the campus. But now that I am in, I am extremely excited and have a new sense of confidence. How does the honors college compare to Georgetown, NYU, and the Ivies (which are some of the other schools I applied to)?

My stats are really not that great, which is why I'm so surprised. I've got a 3.7 UW GPA, with 6 AP classes and 3 Honors classes. I am a three season varsity athlete, but I'm not being recruited or anything like that. I do have significant leadership positions in 5 activites. And my SAT score is a 1390.

One recommender is also my coach and I did an extensive community service project with the other, so I'm assuming they were really good recs.

Yeah, my stats are really similar to the above poster's. A little higher GPA (3.85) and a little lower SAT (1370), so I guess that's the standard.

I also was accepted to the LC Honors college, so congrats! I had stats matching an2008: 3.7 GPA, 1390 SAT.. only 2 AP classes (my school only offers 3), and significant leadership positions..

I was also very surprised by the Honors acceptance. I never considered myself smart enough to be put with the 16 smartest kids on campus either!

D was accepted to Lincoln Center Honors College as well. Stats are a little better and she is a National Merit Finalist. Went to class visit day on Friday and talked to representatives of the Honors College. Impressed with the incorporation of the City into the program. We are from the midwest and she is interested in a combination of academics and theatre. She was told that they accept about 90 kids into the Honors College with hopes of 16 enrollments - "these are the kids with the most options." D applied to 11 colleges - 5-6 remain real possibilities including Fordham-LC
