Honors College Chances?

So I was wondering how hard it is to get into the honors college. I sent in my app today and I was just wondering.

I am NOT in the top 5% of my class. I am in about the top 18%. (81 of 476 with a 3.73 weighted GPA). However, I have a 33 ACT.

Just curious if anybody else got in with a low class rank (by the honors college's standards).

Thanks!

there's no real "chances" for getting into the honors college. the requirements are: top 5% of your class, and at least a 30 on the ACT. if you don't meet both of those standards, you don't get in. you'll likely get into academic scholars though, which is essentially "junior honors college". basically, you can take some honors classes, and then if your gpa stays above 3.5 you can apply for admission to the honors college second semester.

your other option would be to appeal, but it likely won't work. at least, it didn't for me, and i was top 6%, 4.06 weighted GPA, 33 ACT.

Puppylover is sadly right, you will most likely get academic scholars but not honors college (at least for the 1st semester).

If you don't get in at first, just get at least a 3.5 your first semester and you will be invited to the honors college. If you maintain your gpa your second semester, you will get in. As an academic scholar, I believe that you can still take some honors classes.

I know, but I know somebody who got in with a 15% class rank and a 34 ACT, so the requirements are not set in stone. They are merely "guidelines" kind of things. That's the only reason I asked.
