Honors College Classes

My daughter is thinking about taking Ochem 2 as an Honors class. I am interested in any information anyone can provide. Everything I read about honors classes provides mixed reviews. She is a neuroscience major and pre-med.

Is there a reason why she wants to take Ochem 2 Honors? Is she taking Ochem 1 Honors right now?

Pre-med – keep your GPA as high as you can :)

No she is not currently taking Honors Ochem 1. She thinks the teacher is better than her non honors choice. The GPA issue is a concern. She is not sure about the grading in the honors class of 20 compared with the curve she is familar with in the regular class of 200.

Ummm. If the professor for Honors Organic 2 is the same one as last year (Spring 2010)…well, several kids that took that class wish they hadn’t. D1 (who is in the UHC) chose to take the non-honors course and kept hearing from her friends in the honors section that they really had a difficult time following the professor’s train of thought and were confused. D1 was quite relieved that she had finally chosen to register for the regular section. (She had been swaying back and forth on deciding which section to enroll)

Please be aware that this is anecdotal evidence and YMMV.

QT I think it is. Thanks for the information. That may explain why the class is still open.
