Honors College Graduation Data

Is there published 4 year graduation data available for honors college participants?

Not that I know of. Would the number just include those who graduated with from an Honors College program or include anyone who was in an Honors College program sometime during their time at UA? I will say that 4 and 6 year graduation rates can be misleading depending on what types of students are attending that school. An honors student who can afford college fees and expenses, get good grades and doesn’t change majors multiple times or to something very different from their original major is very likely to graduate in four years or less.

I don’t think so.
what is your concern?

Bama students do not have a graduation problem because of inability to get classes. if students take longer, it is going to be because of the students’ doing (changing majors, not taking enough credits each semester, etc.

Ok, I don’t have any concerns. Mostly I am just curious and I am aware of many of the reasons that some schools, including UA have somewhat low 4 year graduation rates. I was looking at a couple of other schools that have similar 4 and 6 year graduation rates as UA. Their 4 year honors college graduation rates were up in that 68-73 percent range. I would expect UA’s to be as good or perhaps better than that.

I would include anyone who was in the honors college program, whether or not the fulfilled the honors college requirements.

I sent my question to the honors college. If I get an answer, I will post it.

how many students are usually enrolled in honors college?

The information is not published as was guessed.

A lot of information at the provided link though. http://oira.ua.edu/d/sites/all/files/reports_archive/Factbook/1314_factbook.pdf</a></p>

@paul2752 Your answer starts on page 76 of the above link.

That was an interesting read, thanks for the link.

@WAPacker‌ Thanks!

Why is only 18.28% of students are in honors college? It’s lower than I guessed.

Only??? What were you expecting? The honors college at Penn State is 5% of the total student body!

UA’s Honors College is reviewed/discussed in this book: Review of Fifty Public University Honors Programs. Your local library might have it. Here also, is their website: http://publicuniversityhonors.com/</a> They have a good article with questions to ask when choosing an Honors Program/College: http://publicuniversityhonors.com/2014/03/25/choosing-an-honors-program-twenty-questions-to-ask/</a></p>
