Has anyone received any communication yet about acceptance into Honors College. My notes show the notices go out in early Feb. We haven’t heard a peep yet. Getting nervous. Going to Talons Day next weekend, WDE
I feel the same. Submitted my app on January 10th and haven’t heard a peep- can’t find anything on the internet about decision dates either, which is unusual.
The application itself even seemed very low-tech and a bit off considering Auburn’s other efficient application portals (Main App and Scholarship Manager). I might even be a little spoiled here to say that this process has been very slow, but since the main app had set decision dates and you hear back about scholarships within a week (Submitted schoalrship app Sunday, got decision today), I was honestly expecting the same or somewhat better from the Honors College.
Curious which scholarship app you heard back about. Was it one of the automatic scholarships based on ACT? I did see the automatic show up on AUSOM and then a letter in mid Oct. When I raised my ACT, the scholarship offered increased to the Presidential. That name is misleading. While it is nice, it only covers tuition. I’ve only heard back on one of the competitive scholarships, which was the Plainsmen Prestigious. Missed out on that one. Still waiting to hear about engineering departmental and Cedrick Mack. I’m not sure about eligibility on the Legacy scholarship. Seems I’ve read that if you are offered academic based scholarships, that you aren’t eligible for the Legcy. I believe the remaining competitive scholarships don’t notify until late March/early April. I’ll find out more after TALONS weekend coming up Feb 12. We are hoping to get at least one more renewable scholarship to add to the Presidential to help offset the cost more. Auburn’s housing is THE most expensive we have encountered so far. Nearly $5K per semester for the village, so we deposited for the quad…which is still nearly $4K
Heard back from AUSOM about the automatch freshman scholarships. Got the Spirit of Auburn Scholarship, but still waiting to hear back about the Legacy and Engineering ones (honestly, as long as I have some tuition paid for it’s fine).
And yeah, on-campus housing is extremely pricey. I got a 2 bedroom 2 bath off campus (but very close) for half the price of The Village as long as I have a roommate to split rent. I’ll have a lot more living space too.
I’m a legacy also, it would be nice to get that little extra bump in funds. I need to call and better understand the fine print on it. I didn’t realize you could get off campus housing real close for nearly half price. If I end up at AU, which is my greatest hope, I will have to investigate it for sophomore and beyond.
Heard from Honors College that they are printing notifications for Honors College now. So we should know our status soon.
War Eagle! Honors College invite arrived in mail today! You have to acknowledge acceptance by March 2 to hold place, if not, the invitation goes to students on wait list. I like that they do it that way, as I’m sure there are way more deserving a spot than places available.
