Honors College programs..ranking

Just got accepted to Honors program and not sure how to rank programs. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I realize they are all very different but I am OOS and have no idea if what they say on paper is really what the program turns out to be. Gemstone seems interesting but also a lot of work.

See here[/url”>http://www.honors.umd.edu/compare.php]here for a brief overview on what each offers. In my limited research, Gemstone is primarily engineering students.

I’m in Honors college as well!
Still have to wait to hear from my other schools though.

My brother did gemstone, and it is very highly regarded in and around the university. It is not much more work, but you can always drop if your not happy.

I am going to major in mechanical engineering but it seems like a lot of additional work. Not sure doing a project of that magnitude is what I want to do. I think I would rather do an internship. Thanks for your input

Other issue is that I am from California and not sure how much weight it will hold out here

Does anyone know anything about honors humanities or university honors? This makes a huge difference in me choosing between University of Maryland College Park and UNC-Chapel Hill

There is a site out there now called publicuniversityhonors.com. It has lots of information about at least 50 schools–admission requirements, some info about different types of honors schools, how they differ in atmosphere, etc. There will be some rankings on the site later on, I think. But now they list quite a bit about academic departments at the 50 colleges,.

As for UNC, it’s hard to beat unless Md has a much better dept or program for your major. Md does have a lot of highly-rated depts.
