I have a question about the honors college at BC. I have currently applied early action and am waiting for a response. My current SAT scores which I submitted put me far short of getting into the honors college but still a shot of getting in EA. However I just took the SAT and believe that I did very well, maybe even well enough to be considered for the honors college. If I get accepted based on my current scores, is there any way I can then get into the honors college based on a new set of scores (they don’t come out till after the EA notification deadline)?

Hi! I am a Boston College Honors Program grad. The Honors Program is exactly that a program, not a specific college (Penn State, for example has a specific college). SAT scores are only a little part of Honors admissions. I, for example had the lowest SATs of any of my honors friends (1450/1600, though this was five years ago), so I think it was my essay or recs that got me in. If you are not admitted into honors for your freshman year, you may be invited after completing great work during your freshman year for your sophomore year. At this point, why don’t you focus on admissions and see where your cards fall. If you do decide to attend, then pursue the honors program.

I know a few people who were admitted Honors when they appealed before their freshman year began. Very few though, but still worth a shot.
