Honors College? Scholarships?

Has anyone heard if they were accepted into the Honors College? Also wondering if anyone received any scholarship info yet?

Never mind…letters for both came today! :)

Where do you live? We only got the honors letter, not the scholarship letter. You received 2 letters?

Two separate letters came yesterday. We live on LI only 20 minutes from campus. I would imagine that they offer some type of merit scholarship for anyone accepted into the Honors College so maybe the second letter will come for you Tuesday.

I would think so too. Thanks for your optimism. We are keeping our fingers crossed.

I got my letter of acceptance into the honors college and they’re offering me $13,000 a year.

Congrats!!

wow to TanTan06~
all the very best ><!

Congratulations to you both. Hopefully we will join in the festivities if the mail brings good news tomorrow.

I just got scholarship letter today. 10,000 per year. I received my acceptance letter more than a month ago. GPA 3.45 SAT 1630

Any more Hofstra scholarships? We got the honors college letter, but nothing about scholarships yet?

You are not alone. Website says admitted. Then snail mail says invited to Honors. Email today says “Thank you for your interest in Hofstra University! As our Office of Undergraduate Admission is reviewing applications for fall 2010 admission, I wanted to take a moment to remind you to file your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2010-2011 aid year if you wish to apply for federal financial aid. If you are admitted to Hofstra University, filing the FAFSA will also allow you to be considered for need based Hofstra scholarship funds. It is in your best interest to file your FAFSA at schools you are interested in attending, regardless of whether you have received an admission decision so that you can be evaluated for federal financial aid as soon as a decision is rendered.” Still no info on scholarships and now wondering if admitted!

S had an interview at Hofstra about 3 weeks ago. Still haven’t gotten a letter, but myHofstra page says ‘Congratulations’ and had pdf copies of acceptance letters we supposedly will be getting by snail mail…but still have not. However, he was clearly told in interview that scholarship info comes a bit later in a separate mailing…more typically at the end of January.

Son received scholarship letter today, $10,000 President’s scholarship. No invitation to honors college at this point. Got accepted EA back in December. ACT 29, 3.1UW, 3.5W Good luck to everyone!

I called Admissions today since S hasn’t gotten letter but acceptance had been posted online a few weeks ago. Letter was apparantly sent at end of December, but never received by us, despite they have the correct address! They are looking into it. Lesson learned: for those of you waiting and thinking you should have heard by now, you may want to make a call into Admissions to check on status.

frugola- did your son fill out just the personal statement on the application or did he do the essay too?

He had an essay he sent to everybody, it was personal and kind of multi purpose. The admissions person made a nice comment about it with the acceptance (as they did for everyone, as i’ve noticed on the threads here)

Congrats to everyone who got in! The Hofstra website reflected that I was missing my high school transript long after it was there. Then a couple of days ago the message changed to reflect,

“A decision has been made regarding your admission to Hofstra University for the Fall Semester 2010. You will receive a letter in the mail with more information. Please note that decisions are not provided over the phone.”

Has anyone else who was ultimately accepted by mail seen this or does this most likely mean that I will not be receiving an acceptance.

This is exactly what happened before son was accepted. If i remember correctly the message was up for a couple weeks before the snail mail acceptance arrived.

Same here. That exact message was on the website for at least 2 weeks before my son was accepted.
