I was accepted into the Honors College at University of Texas- San Antonio. I'm used to rigorous courses but how difficult would this program be in comparison to UT Austin? Is there more coursework or just more challenging classes?

If at all possible, you should try to talk to some students currently in the program. Ask the admissions people to put you in contact with them. Generally, honors programs will say something like it’s not necessarily more work but more challenging work. I know that UTSA is improving rapidly and is doing some really quality stuff in engineering. Based on my experience 20 years ago of graduating from UT Austin in an honors program and then working at UTSA, UTSA would not match up. However, given the number of students UTSA is getting because of the Top 10/8 percent rule at UT Austin (especially from Houston), I think the quality of the students in general has improved significantly. Take the time to look at the actual course listings since some departments will have smaller upper division classes as expected and others won’t get down below 60.
