Honors College

How much is the scholarship for the honors college.?

$2,000 over 4 years. $250 a semester.

Thanks for your post. Are you in the honors college at USF.?

No problem. Yes, I will be this Fall.

I received an invitation but I’m not sure whether to apply to the honors college. I got accepted to the college of engineering and cs. What are some of the benefits of being an honors student?

Whatever this means! xP

Personally, the greatest benefit is the priority registration. The biggest drawback is the required honors courses. Especially for engineering it can sort of cramp your style when scheduling your classes.

And the scholarship, right.? Everybody accepted to Honors gets the scholarship.?

Correct everyone in the Honors College gets the scholarship. The recipients just need to make sure they accept the money.

I just reviewed by financial aid for the upcoming year, and it say that I got the USF Honors Scholar award. It says “was accepted” but I never accepted it. I haven’t even applied for the honors college. Know how I can handle this.?

It’s my understanding that everyone who qualifies to the Honors College receives an invitation to join-- I don’t know if they automatically admit you if you don’t respond, or something. You should probably call the Honors College if you have questions.

But as a side note, why would you NOT want a scholarship, and NOT want to do Honors? It has nothing but perks IMO! :)

Are you enrolling in the Honors College.?

If you don’t accept the invite they wont automatically put you in. There is additional work and a thesis at the end so it wouldn’t be fair to make someone do all that if they didn’t want to. You also can join or drop later on too.
