It is my understanding that the HC decisions will not arrive until mid-January! Ugh...last year they arrived almost the same day as the regular decisions. My D is anxiously awaiting their decision. She knows attending CofC depends on the scholarship offer.

No typical amount. It depends on the applicant pool. Seems they spread the $ out among a the qualified students. I believe a lot depends on the scholarship weekend interviews and activities.

My D already has some very nice offers including a full tuition scholly…so we will not be attending any school without one! She will be seeking a PhD so saving $ now is an imperative.

Thanks for the info! That’s a lot better. We should know pretty soon if the kids are up for any merit money. Of course we are out of town next week…

I understand, we did finally receive the big envelope, I just wanted to let you know nothing yet in Michigan (maybe he will not get anything) about Honors scholarships. I know you are on vacation.

Oh! Sometimes I’m a little slow…must be all the eggnog. Leah said the scholarship letters were mailed Friday. So IF she received one it will be there when we get home. It’s kind of a big deal for us because she won’t be attending CofC without a decent merit award.

My daughter received her Honors College acceptance package on 12/24/13. We live in South Florida. She was invited to interview for the William Aikens and other merit scholarships on Jan.31st and Feb.1st. Does anyone have experience to share as to what to expect during that interview weekend?

She’s a little nervous about two full days of interviewing, so I am hoping to get some information from someone who has been to the scholarship interview weekend to let her know what she can expect. From the acceptance packet, she knows it will writing samples, group interviews, and individual interviews, but it seems like that can be accomplished in one day, so she’s wondering what else she should be prepared for.

My DS received a letter indicating he was Wait Listed for Honors College. I don’t have the letter in front of me, but I believe it said his application will be reviewed again in April. He is planning to major CS and is leaning USC unless he was admitted CofC Honors. He is now in limbo.

Does anyone have any experience with the Honors wait list. His ACT, GPA, & Class Rank are slightly below the posted average. Great EC’s with leadership. I assume good references. I thought his essay was very good, but not teacher reviewed (we are kicking ourselves now).

Shall we move on, any ideas on improving his standing.

I don’t have any experience with the Honors College wait list, but I can say that I’ve found Leah Knapp, the Associate Director of Recruitment at CofC Honors College, to be extremely helpful when it comes to questions. Her phone number is 843.953.5937.
