I recently got my acceptance to the College of Biological Sciences. The acceptance did not mention anything about the University's Honors Program. Is acceptance to the program determined later? Or are you notified of your acceptance into the program with your acceptance to the college?

When did you apply to CBS? I applied to CLA last year. I was informed of my honors status probably about 3-5 weeks after my CLA acceptance letter came.

@collegeman5 Two years ago, DS was notified of Honors Program acceptance 4-5 months after acceptance to CSE.

@ccf183 I applied around the first week of September…
@chucktaylor1 So Honors Program acceptance I’m assuming is determined around March, right?

@collegeman5 No, I’m not saying that. In our case, acceptance was in March. Others have posted that they received their honors acceptances earlier in the process. Some may have even received honors acceptances at the time of their initial UMN acceptance, kind of like a package deal. It appears to me that invitation to the Honors Program is a rolling process over what could be a six month period, probably ending in April.

I know some people who didn’t get honors notification until 2 weeks before the enrollment deadline!

I assume honors admission factors in date of application and how clear of an honors admit you are.

Son just got notified of honors program acceptance on tracker. I’m not sure if it appeared yesterday or today. He applied in July (to CSE) and got acceptance per tracker Oct 13 and US mail letter Oct 16.

My daughter was accepted a few weeks back. Today she received notification of her acceptance into the honors program (CLA). She is OOS (Illinois). Nothing in the letter about any scholarships that may be awarded. Good luck to everyone!
