Honors college

What is the acceptance rate of Ohio State’s honors college?

@kswimmer0426 I have not seen any acceptance rate published for Ohio State’s honors program. Maybe you can call the Honors Program office and ask them. Last year they had a profile of the typical stats of an honors program student and i believe it was above 1420 (math and critical reading) on old SAT and above 32 on the ACT. I don’t see the profile anymore on the website. My son had a 31 ACT and was admitted to Honors last year. Checkout the following link http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/honors/faqs#admission and look at the section for Honors & Scholars admissions questions. Ohio State indicates it provides a holistic evaluation of honors program applicants. A supplemental honors and scholars essay question needs to be answered on the common applicaton. Ohio State looks at academic record (gpa, SAT/ACT, strength of high school curriculum), extracurricular activities and work experience, essay response, and other atributes which it lists in its website…

@kswimmer0426 You can also apply for admittance to honors after you arrive at OSU provided you meet certain criteria. The honors & scholars question applies to both programs, and if you are at all interested in scholars, keep in mind that you can only join that program as a first semester freshman.

My child will be applying to honors. Does the honors essay need submitted with the common app essay? I recognize how the common app and Morrill essays are critical for getting in early. Can the Honors essay be submitted later?

@CRVKids I think you have to submit the honors essay at the same time that you apply via the common app (I just submitted my application with the essay).

@rose621 Do you think it would hurt if the subject matter for the honors essay is somewhat comparable in topic (not exact) to the Morrill Scholarship essay?
