Honors college

Has anyone been notified about the Honors College yet? Please post here if you’ve been asked to join. Thanks!

Not yet. My elder daughter (current MSU soph) was invited mid-November - about 5 weeks after she was accepted. My younger daughter is waiting to hear.

@littleb Yes, my daughter was notified last week. She was accepted 10/13, so it was a little less than a month later she heard about the Honors College.

Congrats, @sparty0411 ! Can you post what your daughter’s stats were?

@littleb Sure, no problem. 3.92 GPA, 30 ACT (32 SS and really high subscores for her intended major). Good APs and ECs/leadership. She’s a 2x legacy (both parents) but II don’t think that’s factored into Honors College selection; I’m just dropping the fact that I’m a proud Spartan into the thread.

Thank you, @sparty0411 ! My son is not legacy, but in talking to many Spartan alums it is amazing to see how much you all love your school. My son is really excited to be a Spartan as well!

@littleb That’s great, I’m sure he’ll love State. Happy to welcome him to the Spartan family.

I was invited to the honors college about two weeks ago. They also notified me of my STATE scholarship and my professorial assistantship opportunity. Extremely excited for the professorial assistantship program, as it is only offered to around 200 people per year.

Congrats @BigMan1234 --that’s so exciting! Can I ask you when you applied and what your GPA and test scores were? Thanks!

Congrats @BigMan1234 and @sparty0411
How were you notified? Were you also invited to the ALumni Dustinguished Scholarship competition?

@123field Just to clarify, it wasn’t me, it was my daughter. I’m long past the age of college admissions. I know she got a packet and a notification letter in the mail and I think she got an email as well. I’m not certain about the email–I may be confused with IU–but she did get a snail mail notification. It was about 4 weeks after the admission decision, which she got on 10/13.

@littleb and @123field - I applied on September 29th and got my regular admission about 1 week later. Then, around mid October, I got a packet with the honors college and scholarship notification. At the bottom of the honors college letter, it said I would be notified about the ADS competition in December.

GPA: 3.99 UW/ 4.29 W
1550 SAT

My son received his acceptance 11/30 and received his letter for honors college today.
