My daughter will be eligible to apply for University of South Carolina Honors College based on her ACT score, however, her GPA is less than average. We understand that it is a holistic approach, test score, GPA, essays, and extracurriculars are all factored in. What is the lowest GPA anyone has heard of that a student was admitted in with?
I hate to get her hopes up!!! However, her leadership and extracurriculars are exceptional.
It is very competitive to get into SC Honors College. I know students who met the requirements and did not make it. However, students who don’t make the Honors College can also be admitted to Capstone Scholars, which is a terrific program. The Capstone Scholars program takes at least twice as many students as Honors College. Lastly, and I am not sure about this, SC parents have told me that in this past year SC tried to take more in-state students into Honors College, and out-of-state students did better with Capstone Scholars.
