Honors college

What are some of the benefits of being in Calhoun honors college? It seems to be like all you do is take an specified honors course each semester and have extra work in other classes.

Since no one else seems to want to answer this question... I'll give you my 2 cents. My son is a freshman in the Calhoun honors college and in general engineering. Since it is still early in his college career, we will have to see what all the benefits might be. So far, I think the best benefit for him has been living in the Honors Dorm. It is one of the nicest dorms on campus (great location) and he is surrounded by all honors students. I have to think that is a positive influence on him and his work ethic.

Being able to take the honors courses (and recieve priority registration) is a nice advantage, just don't make the mistake he made... took 3 honors courses last semester. He had to struggle a bit with those (especially Math), but still managed to do well. This semester he is only taking the one that is required!

I would say if you get into the Honors college, give it a try. If not, just come to Clemson and work hard and enjoy... it is a great school! There are a lot of opportunities for all students there.

I have decided to go to Calhoun, mostly for the priority registration and dorms. Your 2 cents were very helpful. thanks
