Was anyone else here accepted to the UVM Honors College... if so, post stats :-), perhaps I'll see you- along with all other UVM acceptees- in the fall.

Also, what do you know about the Honors College, do you still get put with regular students in the drormatories and is everything else the same as regular UVM except a few different opportunites and an honors diploma?

I just got my letter of acceptance yesterday. I was thinking that they accepted people into the honors college after they decided to go there, so it was a nice surprise. My stats: 1450 sat, 4.0, honors/ap classes - uvm is a safety for me but I really like it up there and won't be surprised if it's where I end up.

I think starting with 05-06 there is a new dorm for honors college students, may be mixed with other students, not sure. I know that honors college kids get early registration and library privileges, and have to/get to take a honors seminar freshman and soph year. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me, but I know this is the first year for it so I'm wondering how it's working out so far. The only thing that worries me is if the housing is completely honors, which might be a little odd.

my thoguhts exactly.. I don't want to be too secluded from the norm. population, you know? UVM is a safety as well... but I lveo it and could definately see myself there this fall.

When did you guys send in your apps? I wouldn't go to UVM unless I got into the honors college, and I applied sometime in early/mid january. When will I hear back?

I applied early action... and I imagine softest bullet did as well. I'm not sure when you'll hear back, but UVM is a very nice college, even without the Honors College option. It's offers great research opportunities, great facilities, great teachers, a great atmosphere, and a gorgeous campus. Maybe give UVM another look, even if you don't get into the Honors College.

UVM does seem like a great place, but there are other schools that I'll hopefully get into that are more appealing. If I got into the honors college, though, it would be hard to justify paying 40 grand a year for a similar education.

I was accepted into UVM Early Action and received the presidential scholarship. I haven't been able to visit the school, so i'm really not sure what to expect. Is there much to do in the town of Burlington? Will someone who prefers a big city fit in? What are some of the highlights of the campus location? Do you need a car?
Thanks for the Help

No car needed, campus is gorgeous, the quaint town is quant enough for acountry folk and the downtown is large enough for most city-lovers. Tons of bands play there (for example, Phish and Cake), tons of outdoor activities available (such as rock-climbing, hiking, skiing, jogging, biking... etc.). It's a wonderful, wonderful place. mmm...Burlington.

However, a visit to Burlnigton woudl probably be very advantageous to you. It would, most-likely, either make or break your decision.

i'm into honors, i love uvm (even though i strongly doubt phish will be one of the many bands to play in burlington in the next 4 yrs) - speaking of good bands there's a good show at the higher ground the night of the feb admitted students day- and for all you magic hat fans (although from reading some of these threads i doubt there are many here) magic hat mardi gras is sat. feb 26- last year moe played for over 12,000 people free on church st.

yeah he said that when i talked to him too - i hear we live on redstone for first semester, then they move all our stuff over during winter break. the new dorms should be sweet- i wouldn't mind having a semi-private bathroom as a freshman...
