Honors College

hi

i'm planning on applying to UCF and wanting to see if I have a chance at the honors college

my SAT is 1330, gpa: 3.8 (UW) 4.33 (W), plenty of extracirc. & ap classes.

i know that the honors college doesn't have a "requirement" for SAT and such

but do you know what the avg. SAT & gpa is to get in?

thanks

Here's some info I found by searching the UCF website (this info was for the Fall of 2007 freshman class. I'm sure stats for this year are higher...just don't know how much):
"Outstanding freshman class: UCF, the sixth-largest university in the nation with more than 48,000 students, attracted a record 43 National Merit Scholars in fall 2007. The fall freshman class posted an average SAT score of 1217, a 50-point increase since 2002. Even more impressive, the fall freshman class at the prestigious Burnett Honors College posted an average SAT score of 1362."

My S's stats for last year were 1400 SAT (cr/math), 3.9 (w) GPA (don't remember unweighted), 10 AP's (passed all of them), and lots of EC's, etc. He applied fairly early (Sept, I think), and heard he'd been accepted to UCF within a couple of weeks. He was invited to join Leads and Burnett shortly after that. He decided to just do Burnett.

zebes

You should be fine, hola_chola.

You're about what I was a year ago (I'll be in Burnett this fall), and after checking around that's about the top half statistics of the Burnett kids.

According to this press release:

UCF News and Information

Last year's average GPA was a 4.02

However, I would expect this year's statistics to be much higher. When I attended a special honors open house in May, they announced to us that the admission rate plummeted to 20%. They also said that many many people turned down would have definitely been admitted if they had APPLIED EARLY. Unfortunately, because of the need to keep class sizes down, applying early matters, and mix that with the fact UCF is a very large university with a large number of potential applicants, the need to get an early start is very important.

As for me, I'm going there in the Fall and my SAT was a 1370, and my ACT was a 32.

I got into burnetts with a 1330, 3.6 uw, 4.5 w, about 7 ap classes, but lackluster scores, and minimal ECs.
