Geez, this is frustrating.

I applied to Stony Brook using the First Priority Application, not the Common App. So now I am filling out the Stony Brook Supplemental Application using the SOLAR system because that is apparently the only place where applicants can indicate interest in the Honors College, and I am repeating a lot of the same info that I put into the original First Priority Application.

It's not that I mind re-entering the information because it's not a big deal at all, but it just doesn't seem logical to me that they would want the same info (like extracurricular invovlement, academic interests, career plans, etc.) in two different places.

Can somebody point me in the right direction?

You're actually doing the right thing. Sorry for the confusion. Hang in there!

Didn't First Priority application say notifcation in 2 weeks? And deadline was 12/1? Will admit (or not) notices be coming soon? Or has that shifted to January?

Thanks for any response.

Unfortunately, things have been a little slow on that First Priority App. "Two weeks" meant two weeks from the completion of your file (transcripts, test scores, etc.), and we're still a little backed up on the mail.

You'll be notified with the EA folks on or around Jan 1.

sbuadmissions -- My daughter has not yet completed her supplemental application. Will this delay her decision? She's planning to complete this weekend. She's interested in the WISE program. Will she first receive a response to her general application?

Yes, she'll receive a regular app decision first, then WISE sometime in mid-March. She should complete the supplement before the holidays.

The online supplemental application for Honors College (via SOLAR) asks for letters of recommendation. Should these be in any particular format, or use any particular form, i.e. the Common App teacher rec form? Are they to be sent to a different address or department than the First Priority Application? And are they to be just postmarked, or have to be received, by December 31?

Again, many thanks for your response.

Any form is fine. Theoretically, they should be here by December 31, but nobody's going to be excluded if they're a day or so late.
