Honors college

Just got an email asking son to resubmit his honors college app. I had called the honors department to see if he qualified based on his stats, and he did. The email quoted the essay that petitioners have to use, ie, those who do not have the stats.

Son has a 32 ACT, a 1460 SAT, and a 4.1 weighted GPA.

Is it possible that Mizzou does not take weighted GPA, but recalculates your GPA without honor credit?

I was just thinking how it was so nice to not have to write multiple essays for one college.

Anybody else had any experience with this?

Yes, Mizzou recalculates your GPA, it’s unweighted, and not all classes are included into calculation. We had the same issue a year ago even with higher scores and weighted GPA, just write an essay and you will be accepted.

Thanks, Tori. Got an email right back from Mizzou that they’ll check into it. Will have son write an essay just to be on the safe side.
