I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I want to to know if any sort of ranking exists for undergraduate honors colleges. I'm not looking for individual posters' opinions; I'm looking for some sort of list or compilation.

Thanks in advance.

Surely others out there also have an interest in honors colleges?

I’ll give this one more shot. Bump.

I’ve never seen such a thing. I’d be surprised if separate data is even available for some of the factors USNWR uses, such as peer assessments, alumni giving, or even faculty resources. Are there separate statistics in the Common Data Sets or elsewhere for HC class sizes and faculty compensation? In the University of Michigan CDS, the only information about the Honors Program I see is a checked box in section E1, indicating that such a program exists.

There definitely should be a list, let me see if I can find one…

I’ve never seen any sort of ranking for honors colleges, and like Post #4, I doubt there could be one because schools rarely – if ever – publish detailed data on the honors college by itself, so there’s no quantitative data to use for comparisons. (Some schools won’t even tell you what stats it takes to get in!)

fwiw, in May 2005, Reader’s Digest named these three honors colleges as the “Best in America” – Schreyer (Penn State), Barrett (ASU) and Barksdale (U Mississippi). But I have no idea why or how these particular ones were chosen out of the entire universe of honors colleges.

New College of Florida and St. Mary’s of Maryland seem to always make top ten lists. Both are stand alone honors colleges. No doubt many others.

UGA makes the average stats for Honors College students available to the public.
