Honors/Computer Science

Can anyone describe the Honors in Computer Science program at Stony Brook? How is different from the regular Computer Science program?

And is it possible to be in the Honors College and the Honors program in Computer science simultaneously?

Sorry I missed this. Short answer to your second question: no. It'd be one or the other. The CS Honors Program is a selective program where you take some of your intro courses in a more intensive environment. Full details are on their site, which is here: http://www.cs.sunysb.edu/undergrad/honors/index.html

There are also some additional course requirements, as well as a senior thesis.

Hope this helps... if you have other questions, let me know.

Is that policy new for this year? I know when I went on a tour of SB, the lady telling us about the CS Honors Program (this was in the CS building itself) that there are a few people in both programs...She also said that for the senior thesis, that another reader from the CS department would simply grade it. I forget her name, but she definately was from the CS department.

I applied to both and already was accepted into the Honors College and I am thrilled about it! I'm kind of curious, though whether I got into the Computer Science Honors Program, too.

I'll check on Monday... but I think they might be mutually exclusive. I know WISE and the HC are.
