A few days after I registered for one of the accepted students days, I got an invitation to the honors day, and one of which is the day before the accepted students day I signed up for. My question is if there is much of a point to going to both. I will definitely attend the honors day. The two programs seem pretty similar and I was wondering if I would be better off only doing the honors day.

Same thing happened here- registered for Accepted Students Day and then got Honors Day invitation. Didn't see the point in going to both either, but decided on accepted students day instead. We didn't get to the upper campus tour the last time and thought if S decided on Pitt, he could go to "So, What Happens Next?" session. Turned out he just enrolled so it worked out.

Got the following from Pitt today because we were going to visit this weekend:

I understand that you are planning to attend our Day for Admitted Students program on Saturday, March 29. You also may be planning to arrive on campus on Friday for an extended weekend visit. We strive to make every prospective students visit to campus a special one, and for that reason we wanted to update you on some events of which we just became aware, and which may provide some unexpected challenges for your weekend visit.

On Friday morning at 11:00 am, Democratic Presidential candidate Barrack Obama will be speaking at a rally in the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum . The parking garage for this venue is the recommended parking area for guests of admissions, so parking on Friday morning will be limited. Doors open for the rally at 9:00 am.

Early Friday afternoon, President Bush will be in downtown Pittsburgh. While our campus is three miles from downtown, there may be some minor traffic restrictions throughout the area.

On Saturday morning, there is a planned rally and march to protest the Iraq war. Fifth Avenue, which runs through the center of campus, will be closed from 11:00 am through the conclusion of the parade. While this will not in any way limit your parking, the street closure may force us to restrict or possibly cancel upper campus and/or city bus tours. For your information, we do have additional Days for Admitted Students on April 5 and April 12.

Again, we want your visit to campus to be as smooth as possible, and for that reason are notifying you of these last-minute events.
