Honors Decisions Questions

Any word on what day they will be mailed? And do they mail denials and acceptances or just acceptances?

I don’t think they mail denials? In fact, I’m not really sure if they let applicants even know of their status, unless they were accepted. The Honors Program site only mentions sending out acceptance letters and forms in the mail to those accepted: no mention of anything for the unlucky rest.

I’m waiting on a notification as well. I’ve been unhealthily obsessed with my mailbox for a week now. Nothing yet

Edit: “Applications to the Honors Program must be received by February 1 and all Honors Program applicants will be informed of their application status no later than April 1… Students accepted into the program will be mailed an official acceptance letter and enrollment form.”

Or maybe they do inform us of rejections? Really vague wording there.

This is the email I got once they got my application:

Hello from Athens!

Thank you for applying to the Honors Program at the University of Georgia.

We have received all required documents for your application and your file is complete.

The Honors Program will soon begin the process of reviewing applications for Summer/Fall 2015.

We will notify you on the status of your application via the United States Postal Service before mid-April.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best regards,
Greg

So I’m assuming the stuff in their website might be a little outdated so you should go by the email you got. But by the wording of the email, I think you get notified no matter if you got in or not.

Yeah I got that email too. If it’s mid April that would be a little bit ridiculous seeing as how everything on their website says April 1 and even UGA Admissions twitter replied to someone saying no later than April 1. I can’t take the wait anymore haha

I got word from the Honors Office at UGA a few days ago. They sent out the letters on Friday. We can expect them to arrive this week.

Do you know if there is any way to check on-line? We’re overseas so the letter may never make it.

Unfortunately, no. The Honors Office only sends out decisions to applicants the old-fashioned way via snail mail.

You may, however, find some luck in directly calling the Honors Office and explaining your situation.

Thanks for the update! Fingers crossed I get in, so nervous.

Just spoke with Honors College, decisions have not gone out. They will be sending them out 1st week of April. I asked directly if they sent out any last week and she said the only decisions sent out where the first EA admissions in December.

Guess I heard wrong, then. Yeah, @3anddone is right. They haven’t sent out the decisions yet.

My bad. I heard from others online that they had sent them out on Friday. Guess that wasn’t the case.

My D just received her Honors acceptance in the mail.

Yep! Just received my Honors acceptance in the mail today! So excited!

Congrats! I haven’t received mine yet. Wonder if they let you at least let you know if you were rejected, haha.

What part of the U.S. are you in. Just trying to see if letters have made it to the East Coast

I’m in the greater Atlanta metro area. Seems odd that it wouldn’t make it here already.

Exercisemom and cyonotic, what part of the US do you live in?

My S received his honor’s letter of acceptance today also. We are in the Atlanta area. He is very happy because UGA is his top choice and the honor’s decision was holding him back.

Well, I guess the person I spoke to was wrong.

@nifmom‌ I live on the coast of Georgia

They mail denials.
