I'm looking into housing at IU and I want to live in the honors residential community and was wondering what are the differences between the northwest hrc and central hrc other than location? Are the atmospheres completely different?

I’m not personally sure if there is much of a difference. A lot of my friends down in Btown usually classify NW at the party neighborhood. I would personally also look into where the main building is for your intended major to help decided which dorm will fit you best. I also know the Stadium and Basketball Court are in NW.

It honestly probably depends on the year and the type of people that live there. I live in the Northwest honors floor this year and we have 10-15 residents that are pretty crazy loud/disrespectful. It can be loud on weekends, and we’ve had theft (probably by a non-resident, but somebody had to let him up).
On the other hand, my two best friends live in central honors, and it’s a pretty good mix. There are also big partiers, and one of the central honors floors actually got busted for alcohol this year, but in general its much more quiet and the people are pretty respectful. However, there are also a lot more reclusive people.
Like I said, there will be different people living there next year, but in general NW will probably always have more of the party atmosphere. They will be both be really nice places to live though, Briscoe looks like its going to be really nice, and central honors is fairly new with individual bathrooms. If I could do it over, I’d choose central honors.
