Hey, I will be attending Alabama next year as part of the Honors college. I have a fairly early room selection date. One of my friends will also be going who is not doing honors. Is there any disadvantage to staying in a non-honors suite in Ridgecrest South. I would still be part of the honors college but just stay in non-honors housing. Do I lose any honors privileges? Thanks.

You lose the ability to choose honors housing in the future.

She’s right. And by not living in honors housing you may not be allowed to keep on campus housing the following year if you need it.

You don’t lose Honors College privileges if you live in non-honors.

However, you do lose the ability to live in honors in the future.

That said, contact housing and ask…I’ve heard that they sometimes will let those who live in non-honors Ridgecrest South tower might be allowed to go to North Tower honors the following year.

aside from the different crowd you would be living with, the above is a big reason if that is a concern for you.
