Hi, I'm filling out the Common App, and I've got some questions for the Honors and EC sections.

1) There is a national contest in my country which it is a really great honor to take part in. I went in for it the last academic year and was awarded second prize (not the only one though), and this year I'm entering it again. But the contest won't be held until Jan and the results only come out in Feb or March. I'm pretty sure I'll earn some prize though, so can I indicate this on the Honors section of the Common App?

2) Does it matter if the translations of my award certificates indicate the contest in a different name other than the one listed on the Common App and in my official transcript? It's because the officials who certify the translations are responsible for the translations themselves and there's nothing I can do about it (and they often translate everything in a very awkward fashion).

3) If I took Japanese for about a year and a half (and have passed the N4 JLPT, the certificate of which I'm also mailing with my transcript), but the "class" was only private tutoring with a family relative, should it qualify as an extracurricular activity? (I see there is an option for "Foreign Language".) The tutoring was serious, though, I had fixed hours every week and all so I guess it's not necessary to report the nature of the class?

Thanks a lot.
