Honors Engineering: Is it worth it?

I was originally very excited to be admitted, but I keep on hearing horror stories about how the coursework is ridiculous and that it's just a GPA killer. It doesn't really give you any sort of advantage when you graduate. Is it true?

Believe me when I say I'm not some slacker trying to get away with as little work as possible, but I also want to have fun just like anyone. I want the extra work that I put into school to be worth more than its intrinsic value.

At least for ChemE, their aren’t any honors classes per say. Their is ONE honors course that I know (Physics 1 and 2) that is a GPA killer but other than that, I see no point in doing Engineering honors unless you want to add “fluff” to your resume when you apply to grad school/jobs/what not.

Yeah if i go to UT, i will to EHP just for the 20k
