It looks like they will have at least one open space. I haven't seen very much financial aid from them, only work study and yet they say that's not their final offer but I may not get the final offer until AFTER May 1st. I can't afford to pass up other schools deadlines waiting for them. I don't understand the hold up. They accepted me into the honors program in November.

my mom called today. Honors letters will be sent Early next week to any people who did not apply for foundation fellowship....and who actually filled out the honors application.

Ahh! I'm so nervous. I really hope I got in. I actually applied late (I applied EA, but at the time didn't care for the honors program). Is it hard to get in?

I need some help with this Honors thing. I got a little form to apply to the program a while ago since I got in early. A while later, I recieve this card in an envelope that tells me that I made it to the Honors program. Yay! But now I'm getting this feeling that it was some sort of mistake because I haven't gotten any other information about he program in the mail. I know we don't find out till supposedly this week, but Ive heard of people who applied early that have already gotten a big package of Honors program information. Did anyone else recieve this card thing and if you did, have you gotten the other information already

did you apply for the foundation scholarship or on e of the others in the fall?
It may be that if you did you automatically are considered for honors adn got in that way.....but you need to call them and see. Good luck.

Yea, I applied for FF in the fall, so that may has something to do with it. I guess I should call just to make sure though, just in case. Thanks

jenmarie, don't be depressed at all! They have to turn away many students with great stats, (see my previous post on the previous page). I know you're disappointed, as I was when I was rejected at first, but now I'm a first-year in Honors. I explain how I did it in my previous post as well. It's difficult, but do-able for sure. Just obtain a good (approximately 3.85 at least, though only 3.75 is required) GPA first semester, write a nice essay, and put together a good application, and you have a great chance. Collegiate entry is very fair. I have many friends that were successful in doing it. Good luck!

By the way, 2007lucky, DEFINITELY call and ask to speak with one of the advisors or Mr. De Maria to make sure. I haven't heard of something like your particular situation before. Congratulations if you're in! :)

jenmarie: how were you notified? mail? online? I am sorry you were not accepted. Maybe if some of the accepted honors people go elsewhere enough slots will open up. If not, just prove them wrong and apply after first semester!!!

D was accepted into the program so now must decide scholarship at a higher ranked university or minimal $ and honors at UGA. If anyone knows anything about the program i would love to hear input.

Are you located out of state? Because if you're in GA, I'm sure your daughter has the HOPE scholarship and if just that, GA would cost at maximum with room and meal plan, $8000 a year. If you're located out of state, I can see why that decision is tougher. Compare programs in what she wants to major in at both schools. Also, I know it's tough not to look at rankings, but UGA and UGA with Honors are very different. Rankings do not look at just the Honors program at UGA. It is comparable to an education at a top school, in my opinion. If you can, please visit the Honors college (Moore College) if you can, or visit the Honors website to see all of the opportunities it affords.
UGA's Honors Program is very well-established, one of the oldest in the nation, and we consistently produce Goldwater, Fulbright, and Marshall scholars each year, just as a tangible example of its success. I belive we were one in five public universities in the nation this year that had scholars in all three of the previous programs (Goldwater, Fulbright, etc.) Good luck to you and your daughter with the big decision. Make sure she chooses the school she loves and that she considers more than just rankings! UGA is more of an academic environment that many believe, as its reputation of being a party school is highly overrated.

No we are instate for UGA. OS for unc. UNC cheaper with scholarships than UGA with Hope and National merit. I think she wants to know grad school reputation for UGA honors.....How is Myers dorm....

Alot of hype about the Foundation scholars/ramsey scholars....so we wonder if she will get a watered down honors experience....that most money effort goes into those students....will we have to pay big bucks for her to have study abroad/travel opptys or are there financial resources for that....or should we expect thousands more......

Hard choice is for certain!!! I want her to be excited. Honestly she chose UNC a week ago but now is rethinking with the honors program. She asked about transfer difficulty==but i don't want her deciding based on that. I do appreciate your input.
