Hey everyone, so I was nominated by my school for the Page One award in the category of General. This basically means that I was named the top overall student in my school (Page One has many different categories, and the Valedictorian is usually nominated for General). I will now be recognized in the region on May 3rd, as my school’s nominee, and in that ceremony, the overall winner for the region will be disclosed. Our school usually wins most of the Page One categories in our region, since we are the best school in the district; aside from this, I wanted to put this honor on the Honors section of the common app. I was wondering if I should call it a school honor and a regional honor, since I will be recognized by the region for my school (and I have a good chance of winning it - but thats beside the point).
I was also nominated as my school’s star student (the student with the highest SAT score and in the top ten percent of the senior class). I will go on to compete in the district level now, and in the last 13 years, my school’s star student has been the winner in the district for 12 years. Once again thats beside the point, and since I will be recognized by the district for my school, should I put this honor as a regional one as well as school like Page One?
I find out the results (if I won for the region) for both after applications are sent out, so thats why I need to know if I’m going to put them now.
Some backstory:
- just got rejected from Stanford REA
- 2 maybe 3 /5 of my honors were pretty good, the third one was a recognition as the top student in the district (youth of the month)
- the other 2 honors: 1) part of the youth advisory council of my city, where we make decisions that impact the city and host events to improve our community such as have an anti-bullying talk show 2) I'm heavily involved in the math team and so I put in a second place award in a state math tournament, but this was more of a filler honor
Should I replace the youth of the month honor and the other two honors with the Start student and Page one award or just the other two honors?
