Honors & Homeschooling

Quick question. I am homeschooled for junior year and go back to regular high school next year. I was wondering about honors classes. For homeschool, I signed up for honors. When it comes to honors, partially ACE which is what program I am in, is it really weighted higher or is it just more work so more grades. Also what grade point scale? My first high school was 5.0 for honors and 6.0 for AP, my second was 4.5 for honors and 5.0 for AP. So I don’t even know what scale it’s graded on.

Thanks for the help!

That depends on the school district or private school. I have worked for three different school districts and they all had different rules about how to weight grades.

I worked for one district that didn’t weight grades at all, one that gave 5.0 for honors and 6.0 for AP, and another that gave 4.5 for honors and 5.0 for AP.

Even if they don’t weight the grades, colleges look at the rigor of the classes you are taking when they are making admissions decisions. The colleges that my kids were interested in all said that they unweight the grades when making admissions and scholarship decisions.
