I think housing the first year Honors students together in Russell had definite benefits. What about upperclassmen? Insights into continuing in Honors housing vs. other housing options? Thank you for your input.

I’m in the same situation as you. My S is currently living in Russell A. He’s seriously considering honor’s housing next fall. He likes the campus experience and, honestly, just doesn’t want the hassle of apartment hunting and the distractions that come with apartment life. There is an honor’s housing meeting in Russell D/E tonight and also a tour of the dorms (both north & south central). I’ll be anxious to hear what S reports.

DD lived in honors housing her sophomore year (New Castle). Other than she ended up in a room that really wasn’t big enough for 2 people, she enjoyed it. It was fairly quiet, which may have been due more to the fact that there were only upper classmen than that it was an honors dorm.

My D lived in honors housing the first three years (Russell, Brown, Brown single) and loved it. She is living off campus next year, but this year (junior) was so academically rigorous for her that she decided a single with the amenities of being on campus would be her best option. SHe hasn’t regretted it at all.

My daughter did the tour last week and is sold on continuing the upperclass Honors housing for next year.

After the honor’s housing meeting and tour S is also “sold” on continuing in upperclass honor’s housing next year. One thing he mentioned was that the whole side of Cannon Hall (all floors) facing the tennis courts will be closed off next year due to the anticipated construction there. He was thinking Cannon would be his first choice, but with concern about construction noise and whatnot, he’s shifted focus to north central. Anyone know anything about “bugs” up there? Or, is that all just kid’s talk?
