Honors housing vs. regular housing

My son is in the honors college, however is contemplating regular housing. Are there any advantages, other than being amongst other honors students, that he might be missing out on by not living in an honors specific dorm?

Hopefully UAHousing will respond. From my understanding, the suites are pretty much the same. The main disadvantage from staying in non-honors is not having priority to stay on campus the following year and definitely not being able to stay in honors the next year even if you are able to get on campus if wait-listed.

If he doesn’t start out in Honors housing he can never move into Honors housing.

I think the honors housing is quieter!

Lindadi,
the above info about not being able to select into Honors Housing later is correct. If a student does not select to live in Honors Housing when they are first eligible for it, they cannot select into it later.

Students who participate in the Living-Learning Communities are eligible to live on campus in subsequent years, and this includes Honors Housing, the Engineering Living option, Arts on Campus, etc. Because those communities cannot be replicated off-campus, students who request to stay on those communities multiple years are allowed to do so. You can find the entire list of LLCs here: [Student Affairs | Housing & Residential Communities](http://housing.ua.edu/new_students/living_learning_halls.cfm)

Hope this helps!
