Recently, I was very happy to receive a letter inviting me to the honors program. I know that I want to live in one of the honors dorms, I’m just not sure which one. I want one that is close to many science classrooms (I’m majoring in biology.) I’d also like a place where I’d only have one roommate, sharing a room with three other girls would make me mentally ill. Anyone have suggestions/comments?

I was just on campus this past weekend (one day walking around, then the michigan game!).
I personally like Bradley Hall. It’s on south campus across from the honors house thing and it’s very close to the oval and such. The only two honors dorms (on south campus) are Bradley and Siebert, I believe, so those will be the more “traditional” dorms, with only two girls per room.
North dorms MIGHT have 2 people per room but I’m not sure…however, you do NOT want to live on north campus, it sucks and is very far away from everything (think a bus).
Then your only other option is the crappy tower (suite living), so you don’t want that.
So yeah, Bradley and Siebert! Maybe we’ll be roomies, hahaha.

Just a quick rebuttal. North Campus is not necessarily farther from most buildings and locations.

Fact—Blackburn a north campus dorm is closer to most science buildings/labs and business buildings, closer to OSU stadium and Value City arena than Bradley or Siebert. Looks like it might be about the same distance to Thompson Library and the RPAC.
Plus your own bathroom.

Many students like the suite living in the towers. More room/living space. Only downside is location.

dd lived in Siebert last year and Bradley this year, both are arts and science honors housing. Siebert is mostly freshman, coed by floor, common bathrooms per floor cleaned by OSU staff. Bradley is mostly upperclassman, coed floors (boys one side, girls on other), bathrooms are individual (grouped together but each has own sink, shower, toilet) with add’l common mirror having all-hall access and cleaned by OSU staff. Siebert is bigger and her double room was much bigger than her double in Bradley…she had standard size rooms in each. In Siebert, each lofted their bed with plenty of floor space. In Bradley, have to bunk beds to have any floor space. Her floors are fairly quiet and she can study in her room, except roomie this year goes to bed early…did miss the social fun in other dorms but enjoyed studying in her room on cold or rainy days when the library walk wasn’t worth it. She does not like to walk far so loves the location. I don’t find North or the towers that far away but I don’t mind walking.

She didn’t want North or the towers due to walking distance…and that you have to clean your own bathrooms in North dorms.

Wow, thanks ddd928!
I liked Bradley while I was there (I liked that it was smaller), but I wasn’t aware it was less freshmen and more upperclassmen. In that case, I guess I would prefer Siebert, though I would like either of them! Weird question but…is the whole of Siebert honors or no? It just was so big!

Wherever you live on OSU’s campus, you will have to walk. You could have a dorm convenient to the building where your major is located, and not have a class in that building as a freshman or sophomore. D ended up in a quad in Lincoln Tower. She is not crazy about the quad, but loves the suite and suitemates. If you had a double room in one of the suites, there is a lot of room. D would like to be closer to High Street, but she has a 5 minute walk to Target and Old Navy behind her. She also thinks the food is better by the towers. The quads on north campus are awful; the sleeping area is so crammed. But I know people who live there and love it. Unfortunately the dorm situation at OSU is not one of its strengths. Whatever you do, send in your acceptance fee as soon as possible, and then once you get your housing info, send the deposit in right away. D missed getting a double by 3 days, and we thought we were sending money in early.

I’m pretty sure Siebert is all honors, although you can have a non-honors roomie, if requested.
