Honors Housing

As of now, I believe that I will soon be enrolling at GW, and of course must decide on where I will be living next year. I have also received information concerning honors housing in Thurston hall, which sounds like an interesting way to find friends also in the honors program. However, I have heard word that Thurston is considered to be the party dorm or whatnot of GW. Is this community any different?

nothing? any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

This is what I heard too… I’m also interested in the Honors Housing, plus the substance free housing… and I’m not much of a partier, so… :(

I think they have separate floors for Honors/Sub-free housing. Thurston is a party dorm but if you’re on a floor with a bunch of like-minded people it shouldn’t be too much of a concern.

My S is a freshman in the honors program and opted for honors housing, so he lives in Thurston in a 6-person suite. Most of his good friends are in the honors program because, in addition to living together, the honors program students take many classes together and those classes tend to be small so the students get to know each other. Before he started school he had some concerns about the noise level at Thurston, but he says his floor is relatively quiet, and he has a white noise machine that helps. I think he has no regrets about being in the honors program or living on the honors floor in Thurston.
