how is honors housing (ie. how is it usually characterized)
is it toooo quiet or do people still have a social life?
are the dorm rooms nice?
also, does anyone know about the Martha Cook Building with quote "beautiful dorms." is it not advisable to be in an all women's dorm?

Its in SQ. Never been to the honors floors. SQ as a whole is very active (IE don't try to study in your room), but I'm not sure if the honors floors are like that, too. I wouldn't be surprised if they were a little bit calmer.

Hahaha yes honors floors are VERY active, and on the weekends (and some weeknights) some honors kids also party very hard. I lived in south quad my freshman year, so this is from experience.

Woah! Talk about a blast from the past! This thread was around when I had fewer than 100 posts! hehe! Hell, I wasn't even a moderator back then.

SQ and WQ house 60%-70% of Michigan's athletes. You guys can figure out the rest!

I have read many posts with different opinions about the honors housing. Are the kids in south quad, honors..any different socially? I know this question is asked a million times, but I am envisioning a different mix of kids than the other dorms, and am hoping I can fit in. I don't think of myself as "super" intelligent, although I am a pretty serious student. I am from the NY metropolitan area, and although I am very interested in meeting kids from all over, I am hoping that I can fit in socially. Are there other honors students that do not apply for the honors housing? I am considering taking a random housing assignment, but I am aware that South Quad is much preferred. Does anyone else that is in the honors program have the same concerns?

I have no idea as to whether to go into another MLC in addition to honors for that cosy and easy-to-fit-in environment, or if honors housing and social life would be sufficient.
