I got honors housing! Got the call this morning from the housing office. I'm surprised since I sent in the $50 late December/early January, but I heard somewhere that pretty much all honors kids are guaranteed a spot in honors housing anyway.

It's a relief. Now if I do end up going here, I won't have to stress over staying in a dorm I don't want.

Thanks! Yeah for some reason, I received my housing contract very quickly. I received it about 3-4 days after I requested one, so maybe that helped speed up the process a little.

how did you do that if you aren't certain you're going to UT? i thought you couldn't get a contract until you sent in your enrollment deposit. is the enrollment deposit non-binding? congrats on your housing, btw:)

enrollment deposit is non-binding and refundable as long as you request refund by ???? I'm thinking May 1st - but check that info out. UT told us to go ahead and make an enrollment deposit even if DS was not sure he would attend.

Yeah the $200 enrollment deposit is refundable before May 1st.
The $300 for housing is also refundable BEFORE May 1st if you DO NOT plan on attending UT.
If you are still planning on attending UT but you are going to stay in an apartment instead, the $300 is NOT refundable.

I recently got accepted into the Natural Science Honors Prog. and updated on my contract that I wanted Honors housing. How will I know if I get it? Did they send you a letter through the mail, or did you check your UTDirect site? Also, which Honors dorm is the best (including Littlefield)? What made you choose one over the other?

They called me on Monday morning to tell me.
I just indicated honors housing, we don't get to choose which one we want.
(Unless you pick Littlefield, but you can't specify which of the other three)

I am living in Andrews-it took me almost three weeks to receive my housing contract, but I got a call two days later saying that I'm in honors housing (the only reason I know I'm in Andrews is because I'm rooming with a c/o 2010 friend who already found out her room and everything). I'm doing Dean's Scholars Honors (which is Nat. Sciences Honors). They send out housing contracts in batches, and the next one is sometime in April. If you want to get into honors housing, you absolutely need to send in your enrollment deposit asap, as they have already started assigning dorms.

Someone please convience me to live in honors housing...please...I'm torn between San. Jac. and Honors Housing, and no one has given me any good reason to choose one over the other.

I have the same dilemma as oxymoron2007. If I'm not in honors housing, then I get to room with my friend (who's not in honors). Also, if I decline honors housing, do I get to still choose my dorm or is there a risk that I could get stuck in Jester?

I'm going to be in Littlefield! Anyone else? Kind of dreading a dorm full of freshman women with community bathrooms, but it's the only way to be in WINS (Women in Nat. Sciences). I guess it's all part of the college experience, though, and I've heard that Honors dorms are more social.

They sure are. As of right now, there is a live band playing outside my window while numerous others are shouting curses as they play football in the quad.

i am worried. i called housing and was told that i might not get a contract because i applied in jan. many people are telling me that i will be guaranteed honors housing but i asked and she said that those were also filling up fast. is it true that if i want honors housing, then i will definateley get it?
