Honors housing

After visiting this weekend my daughter decided Alabama was for her. We have filled out all commitment and housing info. Of course we are late for the housing deadline of March 1.

Does anyone know if the honors housing fills up?

We emailed Res life and they said: a honors student could “pull” her into honors housing.

I would assume they would put her down as a suitemate.

We are from Ohio so we don’t know anyone else in honors. We do have another boy from our HS coming to Alabama.

Has anyone in the past had any success with this??

I know this will sound a little crazy, but have your daughter join the U. of Alabama 2013 Facebook group. She can post that she was too late for honors housing but still wants to live there. Perhaps one of the girls will contact her.

Thanks!

She was looking at Facebook last night.

I was just wondering if anyone was in this situation last year & still got honors housing?

We didn’t even know there was a deadline for honors housing. We were waiting for confirmation of her scholarship. It seems weird to have the deadline before those notifications are mailed out.

We had to wait until she finished her athletic season to take the trip down to visit.

She applied this fall, and had all the scholarship info; but we feel strongly about campus visits.

The opportunities that Alabama offered are great!

I hope it all works out, she has been looking on facebook to find a roommate.

Thanks!

Omama, I would suggest that she also use the Roommate Finder function on the myBama website.

We will be able to access the Roommate Finder in a few days.
I really am hopeful she finds some one.
It seems like a great tool.

I am impressed with Alabama, we have made a few calls/emails to various offices and everyone has gone out their way to help/answer our questions!

YES go to the facebook group. that group actually has its own roommate surveys, which are a lot better than the official one that bama provided from the housing website because 1 ) youll actually get to see the person’s profile, pictures, information etc so you can see if they are like you AND because the official roommate finder by bama only asks a few questions and allows one sentence for any additional things about you.

Group : University of Alabama 2013

heres an example of the roommate survey on the facebook group:

Name:
Hometown:
High School:
Dorm you want to live in:
Are you going to pledge?
Are you in honors?
Sports:
Other things you do:
Do you drink?
Do you party?
Smoke?
Religion? How serious?
Night owl/early bird?
What is important to you?
How important are your grades?
Mind having people in your room?
Do your friends think you are emotional?
Do you have any un-ordinary habits?
What do you consider clean?
Favorite music :
Outgoing or shy?
Talkative or quiet?
Do you know a lot of people going to here?
Anything else about yourself?

usually someone will read it, respond to you, and begin talking through messaging to see if they would be compatible roommates. thats how i found my 3 roommates, and i ended up meeting them on campus later on and im very happy with my choice.
and yes there are still honors kids looking for roommates that chose their rooms already. they just put themselves in a room just to save a space and began looking for roommates on the group.
its great.
