**honors housing?**

hey so i got into honors and i was wondering if i should opt for honors housing or other regular housing??

I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND to go with honors housing.

are there different halls in honors housing? and would u recommend any specifically?
i got into bhp…

There are 3 honors dorms, Andrews, Blanton and Carothers, which are connected. You can find out more info on them on the housing website. As an incoming freshman, you only get to select “honors” as a choice, not which individual dorm. They are much older, built in the 30’s and only offer community bath. However, they are much quieter and offer a great environment. The students that live there seem to really like them and many stay for more than one year.

Don’t go to Blanton. There are no sinks there. Andrews has the nicest dorms.
If I were you, I would live in Moore Hill, San Jac, or Jester.

Sure you’ll get peace and quiet at the quads, but EVERYTHING happens near Jester.
my $0.02

Someone said that this year, you get to choose specify Andrews or Blanton or Carrothers in your ranked list of choices, rather than just choosing “honors”

The students who live in honors housing really like honors housing

honors i heard has a great social life(not hardocre keg parties) but like ice cream socials and movie nights and stuff and everyone loves it!
btw im also an incoming freshman that is probaly going to live in honors and looking for a roomate so message me!

it really depends on the type of lifestyle you want to have in college. personally, I live in the honors quad and although i’m starting to like it better now, at first I would have given anything to leave. i’d have to say that it is the epitome of nerd-life which is good if you’re into that, but if you’re into the more “mainstream” college social life, the honors quad isn’t for you at all.

Midwestmom-- at first it looked like my son would have the choice of a particular honors dorm this year, but that turned out not to be the case. He can choose the same room, but other than that, it’s honors or not honors. The drop down menu on the housing page did allow him to choose Blanton, Andrews or Carothers, but in reality the system does not work that way.

My son has liked the honors quad, even though he lives in Blanton where there are no sinks. He thought at first that not having a sink would be awful, but found it wasn’t that bad. He’s glad he lived in the honors quad his first year.

I think incoming freshmen have only the “honors” choice, while returning students have the choice of which dorm. My ds is in Carothers this year and requested Andrews for next year. He was assigned to Andrews, so he is very happy.

i havent applied as yet… could that be a problem?

Have you applied for housing and just not made your choices yet, or have you not yet applied for housing at all?

i applied for housing yesterday but i didnt see the choices thing.

It is really late to be applying for housing. If you get a contract, it will come by e-mail. You will have about 10 days to accept it and pay the $300 housing deposit. It is refundable until May 1st if you decide not to attend UT. After UT has received the housing deposit, you will see on the “My Housing” page where you will be able to make dorm choices. You have until July 1st to make your choices.

ok thanks a lot!
