Honors Humanities

Hi. I got into the HH program at UMDCP. Can anyone give me some more information about it? In terms of amount accepted, prestige, etc?

My daughter got into the HH program. I see you posted this last July. Can you shed any light on the program? Thanks.

jnrsmom,
This is straight off the Honors website:

Honors Humanities is a smaller, more structured program within University Honors. All Honors Humanities students are admitted to University Honors and, in addition, are invited to participate in Honors Humanities. The goal of this two-year program is to provide a powerful and enriched base for students from any major to enhance studies in the arts and humanities.

This residential program is built around specially designed Honors Humanities classes from Arts and Humanities departments and a team-taught interdisciplinary seminar in the second year.

Additional academic and cultural opportunities outside class are available. Students who successfully complete this rigorous program receive the Honors Citation in Honors Humanities.

Honors Humanities students have all of the rights, privileges, and resources available to University Honors students, including access to Honors courses, residence halls, facilities, programming and events, advising, academic support, scholarships, grants, and awards.

My s loves the program. Most of the kids in the program are very bright and talented. for keystone projects, some kids are writing novels, plays and completing other original works. It's a very select group within the honors program and encourages broad intellectual horizons. All classes are seminars, I believe. The kids affectionately refer to the program as "Ho Hum". Please IM me if I can be of further help.
