Honors in 10th and 9th grade?

alright im kinda confused what UCs consider honors courses and how to inform them that the school considers it an honors course even thoguh they may not…
I took many honors courses when i was a freshman and a sophomore in HS and now im wondering if im even gonna get any recognition or not…
i mean on the information booklet it says that virtually no honors 10th courses are considered honors to them and that i could just forget about 9th grade courses being considered honors courses also…
here’s the thing - i don’t really care if its going to be considered into my UC-GPA or not but i still want recognition because i got a few Bs my freshman year in high school because it was honors. SO what im trying to say here is even if we dont put down HL (honors level) on the application, can’t we still put in parentheses “honors” or something. i just dont want them thinking that i got a B in a regular Englsih and World History class
BECAUSE IT WASNT!

okay anyways just help me clear up this confusion :
thanks

First off, Frosh grades don't count anyway. Most Soph honors classes won't count for a bonus point either, in UC's gpa calculation. Classes that will count are any AP course, no matter when taken, classes such as Pre-Calc (let's say you take before Junior year), any other college course, and the like. So, no, you don't get extra grade point credit for Honors Bio, or Honors World History, or Honors Soph English.

Only certain Honors classes count for the extra grade point in UC calculations. At my school, honors english 9-10 didn't count, but honors english 11 did. To be sure you're not making mistakes on the application, just find your school in the application and the app will have a list of all the available classes at your school and which of them are HL approved. I'm not sure if this is applicable for schools outside of California, though..

alright well my question is still unanswered..
what im trying to ask here is if we can still put HONORS along with the class even though it won't be counted into the GPA
i don't care about the GPA i just want them to know that it was honors and not regular english- im not talking about putting HL down on the side but just writing Honors English instead of English just plainly
the reason is because i got a couple Bs and i dont want them to think it was in a regular course
because it wasnt
thanks so far

yes, you indicate that it is an honors level course on the app

thanks SSM

don't mention it =D

This may be perhaps too late...

If it is not a UC Approved Honors course (which you can find out at the UC Pathways), you are not to put it as HL. If it is an honors class, but not UC approved, put:

Biology Honors

as the course title, but DO NOT list it as HL.
