Honors Interview

@rani: Congratulations! If the interviewer said she is recommending your D for the ADHC, then she is in. She will definitely get at least a half scholarship (and maybe more), but the details of it will probably come separate from the formal acceptance letter.

@CBCHRIS: is your unweighted GPA at least 3.5? I know that it is an important criteria for the ADHC. Your SAT is at their target, so you should be fine on that account. Demonstrating initiative, leadership, and community service is also important to them, as they will be looking for you to continue / expand on that as an ADHC student. I agree with Luminiz that a call would be helpful. Oh, and if your preference is TCNJ, have you been accepted there?

Luminiz & mtown27: Thank you for your help. I really appreciate it.
We are going to call tomorrow.
My unweighted GPA is 3.52 and I was involved in a lot of community service programs with my school and library throughout high school.
I was accepted into the engineering program at NJIT but wasn’t awarded any scholarship money. I was hoping that getting into honors would come with some scholarship money.
Unfortunately, the money will probably be the deciding factor for me :(

mtown27,
Thank you for all your inputs, suggestions and goodwishes. The ADHC application website says she has been accepted. Now we await all the details.

CBCHRIS,

from the website I note that you are qualified except for the class rank… unless you opted for one of those accelerated programs requiring SAT (M+R) 1400. I did notice any requirement for class rank being top 15% , however that should not really affect. Perhaps an appeal is warranted. I hope you were able to contact them and set up an interview. Good luck.

Thank you everyone for your help.
We did call on Tuesday and they said my application was still under review.
I guess I’ll have to wait a little longer but at least it’s not a “no”

Excellent, cbchris – keep the faith. Let us know how things work out. My son is down to UMBC, Stony Brook, and NJIT, with Rutgers starting to drop.

Mtown27, hey tell us what you choose. I’ve just committed to njit a couple days ago.

@luminiz – it’s not me choosing – it’s my son. He’s got 3 great options to choose from. Perhaps he’ll get an inspiration on his senior trip this week!

Today was the honors college reception. It was awesome experience and I met many students and faculty. I think I can see myself here for the next four years.
