My acceptance letter mentions nothing about the Honors Program, but the myNEU self-service section has a link to an Honors Program Participation Agreement which reads like an invitation to the Honors Program. Is this the only way you know whether or not you've been accepted into the Honors Program?

I don't have that link, so you're probably in.

My decision letter explicitly mentioned my acceptance into the Honors program and I have access to that link. I would call admissions and ask them directly.

I will call. I also received a $12,000 Dean's Scholarship. Would that be a good indicator?

No, many many people get merit aid and are not accepted into Honors. Some people in honors get even less merit aid than non-honors. Very hard to figure on the merit aid.

It's true. My D got $12,000 in merit aid and was not accepted into the honors program. I understand the cut offs, GPA and SAT, for honors but I wonder how they award the merit $$. From the small sample we see on CC there doesn't seem to be a pattern.

is honors a lot better than non-honors? I visited the honors website but it's so confusing. Other than different course requirements whats the real difference?

It says "Honors" on your diploma, I guess.

I'm non-honors. I have lots of honors kids in my classes. Some of my good friends are honors. It doesn't seem to make much of a difference in the quality of their education or their college experience. If you get honors, awesome, do the program. But it's really not going to make a drastic difference in your experience here.

Emily2007 - what do you think about the honors housing? My son was accepted to honors but is worried about choosing honors housing

Rileydog, what is your son concerned about exactly? WVF is phenomenal. My D is a freshman there this year, if you have any questions let me know. The only drawback I can think of is the location not being as close to he dining halls as other freshman housing.

The Honors housing at NEU is insane.

Most people will live their lives without ever having an apartment that nice...right in the city!
