I'm considering applying for admission to the Honors Program, but I'm wondering if it's worth it since it's only a 2 year program and non-honors students can still take honors classes. Also, does anyone know how competitive admission is and/or how many people are generally accepted through lateral admission?

Personally, I don't think its worth it for the same reasons you stated. The only bonus I can think of is if you plan on apply to one of the prestigious collegiate scholarships (i.e Truman, Rhodes, etc). Even though you can still apply to those scholarships without being in the honors programs, but they like to select people from the HP.

Hi. I'm also interested in applying to UF's honors college laterally. Unfortunately I missed the minimum sat score by 20 points but had the GPA. Is the lateral admission more difficult? If so, what should an applicant do in their freshman fall semester to better their chances? Thanks.

if i retake my SAT or ACT by the end of this school year and get the 1400 or 33 needed for honors, can i still apply for honors? even if its past the due date for SAT/ACT scores? ive already sent in my regular app

They not only don't accept the SAT scores, but I think for lateral it's mostly based on UF GPA. Also, you can only apply for lateral admission Spring Semester of your first year.

Just a quick note:
Yes, non-honors kids can take honors courses, but don't be fooled: you get LAST pick and let me tell you that the last classes available are not going to be the ones you wanna take.
