Honors Medical Scholars Program

Hi:

I haven't seen a thread about this program.

Can anyone tell me what the criteria is for acceptance, is it really competitive? I am getting my docs together now. What is the interview process like?

Can anyone tell me what it is like and what the benefits are outside of what I've read in the brochure?

Thanks.

Where are the documents for it? Did they come with the acceptance to the Honors college stuff?

Highly competitive.

Here's a link: fsu.edu | Honors Medical and Legal Scholars Programs

What's the password to open the document? Is it something generic, like the honors09 one for the honors program?

The PDF files should not require a password to view. Are you talking about something else?

I'm talking about the application form itself, not the PDF file telling the information about it (the application form is right below it).

I believe that you have to be accepted to the Honors Program before you can apply to the medical program.

Yes, I know. I got accepted into the honors program.

But my lack of organizational skillz is making me not know where all that stuff is.

Email Honors & ask.

I recently obtained some specific stats about the program, and apparently it is pretty exclusive. On average around 35 people that have been accepted into the FSU Honor's Program apply for the Honors Medical Scholars Program, and from those, 15 people are selected to be interviewed by the college of medicine. After considering those interviewees, 10 people are then selected to be inducted into the program.

Do you have any GPAs or SAT/ACT averages (plus ECs and so on) for the group of 35 that was accepted to the program? We've had a number of questions over the years and such data would be helpful.

To clarify: Farva says 35 applied/ 15 are selected to interview/ 10 offers are made.

OK

My app is in.
Now we just wait.
Anybody else in the same situation?

parent2noles, I did not obtain any specific stats regarding test scores or GPA, but I was told that the review board at the college of medicine basically views an applicant's academic history in equal light with their volunteer history pertaining to medically related activities. In other words, it would appear to be a major plus if an applicant were to have experience shadowing a medical professional, or something along those lines.
