will someone have better chances of meeting more people in honors dorm with the small nucleus of 250 people. trying to make final dorm selection between meyers and others.

Glad to hear your S decided on UGA!

hey gamomof3, did you not get my pm a few weeks ago. i sent my cell and asked you to call- i would really love to get in touch with you. what orientation are you going to. we are graduating tonight so i wont recheck til tomorrow. EXCITING night! when does your d graduate?

The honors dorm is nothing special and a bit overrated in my opinion. Plenty of people will claim otherwise, but that’s simply what they want to believe. The facilities in the honors dorm are no nicer than the ones in the regular dorms. It’s just a way for Georgia to extract more money from you.

I just finished dorming in Myers for my first year and I loved it. One of the main reasons that Myers was one of the better dorms in campus is the location. It is located on prime real estate in UGA. The bus system in Georgia is huge and Myers is surrounded by bus stops for nearly every single UGA bus, except East campus express. Other than that, every other bus stops near it which makes it very convenient. Also the proximity to the dining halls, especially snelling, the 24 hour dining hall. You would be surprised how important both those things are during your normal day at Georgia. If you have any other questions about myers, you can pm me any time

DS very much enjoyed his year in Myers. Great location, recently refurbished, mostly Honors students. Soule or Rutherford might be nice, smaller communities. Hill Community and Reed community are OK. High rises are basically zoos: noisy parties, fire alarms, etc. I would avoid them.

Nothing but positive things to say about Myers. Great location, liked the atmosphere, busy quad right outside, recently renovated, in-room temp. controls (this is a big positive!), etc.

For others still thinking about dorm selection, I also heard a lot of good things about O-house. Traditionally viewed as an upperclassmen dorm but that seems to have changed recently. Like Myers, can’t beat the location.
