Honors Options?

<p>I am a Texas student who is EXTREMELY enticed by the free tuition offer at UA and I was wondering what the different honors programs involve and which ones I might qualify for…
I am 31/617 in my class with a 32act/1430sat. NM commended, 1 yr debate, 3 yrs youngreps, uil current issues reg.qualifier, 1 yr. work, 2 yrs. subvarsity baskb., NHS, 30 hrs cservice… applying for cheme or ece… So what are the honors programs I would likely get into and what are they like?</p>

<p>I had similar ACT/SAT scores (slightly higher on SAT), similar extracurricular qualifications, similar community service qualifications, and I’m also from Texas (Port Neches). Relative to the rest of the class, my class rank was actually lower than yours (30 out of 329). I made it into the Computer Based Honors Program, which is one of the top honors programs on campus, so I would look into that and the University Fellows program (also one of the top programs) if I were in your position.</p>

<p>If I remember correctly, your test scores automatically guarantee you enrollment in the Honors College, but you might want to doublecheck that.</p>

<p>What grade are you in? And have you visited campus?</p>

<p>Both of you would qualify for 2 of the Honors College programs because of your stats. </p>

<p>University Honors Program (UHP) which is the main honors program.</p>

<p>International Honors Program (IHP) which has foreign language and study abroad req’ts.</p>

<p>Bama also has 2 other Honors Programs that have competitive admissions…</p>

<p>Computer-Based Honors Program (CBHP) - this is a Research honors program…it’s not a computer science program</p>

<p>Unversity Fellows Experience (UFE) - this is more of a service honors program.</p>
