<p>Ok so DS joined Golden Key (I think that is the name). He keeps getting invitations to honors organizations. Today is Sigma Alpha Lambda. Is this one worthwhile? Proud of him for the invitations but they all have a membership fee. You could get into some money if you joined them all…Any thoughts??</p>

<p>My advice: going forward, stick to the discipline-specific society and, depending on what societies exist on your student’s campus, seriously consider an invitation from Phi Beta Kappa (liberal arts and sciences), Phi Kappa Phi (all disciplines), Sigma Xi (scientific research), or Tau Beta Pi (engineering) if they come along. Mortar Board is also highly reputable and should be considered.</p>
