Honors program and the impact it has on uc's?

i want to apply for the honors program, does anyone know how difficult it is and does it make a difference when applying to uc's preferably ucla? Also can these courses only be taken in the fall or spring or can you also take them in the summer and winter intersessions? i've been getting mixed responses does anyone know for sure?

for UCLA I beleive it will only really help you if you are Tap certified which meant for my college that I had to take 18units of honors classes.
I know that it has absoultely no impact on your chances at UcBerkeley.

As for your other questions you need to ask someone specifically at your college because each college is different.

Honors classes are normally offered only during Fall and Spring

Actually The honors courses will probably increase your chances of acceptance to all the UC's including Berkeley. Although I really have no hard evidence to back this statement up, here is a quote from the Cerritos Community College Honors website "UC Berkeley evaluators now consider your honors work as a factor in the admissions process." Here is the link to the source of the quote: http://www.cerritos.edu/shp/tainfo.htm (third bullet point)

And also Being in the honors program at your college shows the admissions officers that you are voluntarily taking more challenging courses and that you are involved on the campus. So to say that being in the honors program on your campus will have no impact on your admissions to UC Berkeley is a bold statement.

ok also do you know when you send your application in november do you have to have the honors courses completed?

You can complete the Honors program by Spring for UCLA TAP Certification.

did u do tap thedude? regardless if you did or didnt how long did it take you to transfer?

Well I am still in the process of transferring. This Spring will be my sixth semester so three years at a CC. But it only took two semesters to complete the Honors Transfer Program at my school. My school offers one or two honors courses during winter and summer so I was able to take one then. And yes I am TAP certified.

i will have 18 uc transferable units done by spring w/gpa of 3.5 but 1 w will that keep me out of the program?

Every honors program changes with community colleges. So I don't know about your program but I have never heard of an honors program that will not accept you or keep you out because of a W.
