ecner...rejected with GPA 4.0 UW & 1420 from honors? Wow...I did hear that it was hard to get into UW honors but I can't see pple applying with 4.0's 1420++++...did u spend a lot of time on ur essays?

Holy sh-t. Haha, guess I can pretty much consider myself rejected then! Haven't actually gotten a letter yet, but from what I've heard it's not looking good. Oh well, no big ~ I have bigger things to worry about at this point, heh. :) The best of luck to all of you.

ouch. I'm sorry ecner...I know what it feels like to get a rejection letter..( I have plenty of them in the shredder...) But if you got rejected...lol... that puts my chances at -100%!! my stats were lower than yours, especially my gpa.....I haven't gotten a letter yet either....who knows, maybe they lost it.....but now I know not to get my hopes up for Washington Honors lol

there were more than 200 applications. probably 200 spots and 2500 applicants.

oh, i see... those are tough statistics. well, good luck w/ everything ecnerwalc3321

thank's everyone for the kind words. I really didn't expect to get into the Honor's program anyways. I mean, public schools serve students from their home state right? Plus, my stats aren't as high as it should be in order to be competitive.

has anybody heard anything yet about the honors program? ecnerwalc3321, when did you apply? thanks.

ok, well i got this email from UW Honors that says that I sent the wrong version of my UW application. anyways, i emailed them the correct version so hopefully they've received it, but my concern is in regards to this statement in the email saying that we won't receive decisions for another 8-10 weeks!!! can anybody attest to this because i just might go crazy w/ waiting... thanks!

I applied for the priority deadline. Dec 1 ? or something liek that.

I was accepted to the Honors program about two weeks ago, still haven't replied yet. I think the number of accepted people is only like 145. It's not very many at all. They pair you up with an advisor and everything, it's pretty cool.

My stats: SAT: 1430, GPA: 3.7, decent ECs, strong essay.

congrats hamdiggy..thats awesome! when did you apply? are you from washington or are you out of state?

i got into the honors program too, got my letter today

nice job little john! when did you happen to apply?

I thought you had to have at least a 3.8 to apply for honors? Maybe not, but It says in my old freshman admissions info packet that the average HS gpa is 3.97...i dont pretend to be an expert, but that does seem a little low for honors at UW, I know people with 4.0s who were rejected, and around the same or higher SATs, hamdiggy. That's interesting...

I think the essay would be a lot bigger factor in honors than the regular admission process into the university. Essays reveal a lot more behind the person than the scores.

Yeah, I agree with Dopke about essays being a big factor with admissions for the honors program. Like I mentioned earlier, two of my friends from school were rejected with a 4.0 GPA.

I wonder what they are looking for though... How would you choose between so many bright students? What are they looking for in your essay? My friends from school, the ones who were rejected, are known for being like the "smartest" people in our class, and if they can't get in... well, d*mn! LoL, well I guess my chances then aren't pretty high, huh? Oh, well. :-)

umm, i think i applied like a week before the deadline.... so like, last week in november, i think. i think my essay was kinda creative... I wrote on that one prompt about that guys speech. i wrote as if i was sleeping through his speech, then, in my dream, i came to the same realization as the guy's speech topic, and i started screaming in the middle of his speech and then i realized that i was not dreaming and i was embarrased for disrupting the graduation ceremony for like 5000 people.

umm, yeah, it was more than just that, but i cant really explain it much better. what topic did yall choose?

Creativity, uniqueness. A lot of the "smartest" people probably write the same types of essays. Something more than just: I went to so and so, learned that, changed my life.

i also wrote about the guy's speech...
but i'm at school right now trying to study for a gov test, so i'll try to post later.
